If you like to boogie in the dark with friends and strangers there is an event at the Thirroul Railway Institute that might get you in the groove.

No Lights No Lycra ( NLNL)  is a dance class that is attracting people of all ages and abilities.

The popular event resumed at the end of July, after a brief hiatus, with a large turnout of die-hard beat seekers.

Organiser Shay O’day said that the class can be  ‘therapeutic’ for dancers.

“NLNL is an individual pursuit where we turn off the lights, pump up the tunes and dance for an hour,” Ms O’Day said.

“It acts as therapy for some people and is beneficial emotionally.”

First time participant Liz Withers said she was surprised of how much fun she had and said dancing by yourself makes your body and spirit feel good.

“It’s honestly just an hour of fun for everyone, from all walks of life,” Ms Withers said.

“I don’t think people realise just how important it is to set yourself time to just feel and let out your thoughts through movement.”

NLNL is run every Thursday night at the Thirroul Railway Institute from 7:30- 8:30 pm.

Bookings are available through facebook.
